Baker Sterchi Attorneys and Staff Donate Testing Snacks to Garfield Elementary
Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice attorneys and staff donated a large number of snacks for distribution to the students of James A. Garfield Elementary School during year-end testing and assessments. All students in grades three through six, taking the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test, and in kindergarten through second, taking progress assessments, received snacks after their testing sessions.
The firm's partnership with Garfield Elementary began with the 2013-2014 school year. Over the course of the partnership, Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice attorneys and staff have made donations of school supplies, winter coats and accessories, books, and more. Additionally, firm attorneys and staff have volunteered time to assist teachers, and serve as reading and/or lunch buddies to students.
Garfield Elementary, located in Kansas City, Missouri, serves a diverse student body of approximately 600 students from nearly 30 countries in pre-K through sixth grade. Most of the students come from homes well below the poverty level.
