Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice Contributes Back-to-School Supplies to Garfield Elementary
As part of the firm’s ongoing effort to support James A. Garfield Elementary School, 44 backpacks filled with supplies were delivered prior to the start of the school year. Firm attorneys and staff donated the supplies and backpacks, and firm volunteers stuffed the backpacks with the supplies prior to delivering them to the school. Extra supplies were stuffed in teacher boxes at the school.
The firm's partnership with Garfield Elementary began with the 2013-2014 school year. Over the course of the partnership, Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice has made donations of school supplies, winter coats and accessories, books, snacks, and more. Additionally, firm attorneys and staff have volunteered time to assist teachers, and serve as reading and/or lunch buddies to students.
Garfield Elementary, located in Kansas City, Missouri, serves a diverse student body of approximately 600 students from nearly 30 countries in pre-K through sixth grade. Most of the students come from homes well below the poverty level.
