Angela Higgins has been named the Marketing Chair of ALFA International’s Insurance Practice Group, where she will help set defined long-term business development goals for the group and facilitate action on those goals.
Founded in 1980, ALFA International (ALFA) is a by-invitation-only network of 150 independent member law firms across the world. ALFA’s Insurance Practice Group includes lawyers from every region of the United States and internationally, who provide valuable guidance and sophisticated representation to the insurance industry, ranging from claims handling and coverage advice to litigation and more.
Higgins has served as Chair of the Webinar Subcommittee and as a Member of the Compendia and Publications Subcommittee of the Insurance Practice Group. She recently moderated a panel on the Restatement of the Law of Liability Insurance at an Insurance Practice Group Seminar attended by ALFA member firms attorneys and invited insurance industry clients.
Higgins is a Member of the firm, with a practice dedicated to insurance coverage, commercial litigation, product liability, class action defense, and appellate practice. She is the editor of the firm’s Insurance Law blog, writing and editing blog posts on topics and developments of interest to insurance carriers. She is a member of the Insurance Law Committees of the American Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and Missouri Bar Association.
In 2017 and 2018, she testified before the Missouri House Committee on Insurance Policy in support of a bill to repeal Missouri's equitable garnishment statute and worked with House Representative Bruce DeGroot to draft the bill.
