Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice Member John Lord has been appointed as the 2019-2020 General Counsel Committee Chair by the Board of Directors of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA). This is Lord’s second consecutive appointment as Chair of the General Counsel Committee.
Founded in 1913, ASLRRA provides its over 1,000 short line and regional railroad, rail holding company, and rail industry provider members, with a wide range of industry services and professional development opportunities. The General Counsel Committee serves as an information-sharing resource for industry lawyers; identifies and assists in organizing educational events relevant to class II and III railroads; and offers insight on policies, proposals, laws, and regulations impacting the short line and regional railroad industry.
Selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers® in America, St. Louis Metropolitan area, in railroad law since 2016, Lord is also a member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. A former General Attorney at Union Pacific Railroad Company for nearly 12 years, Lord currently litigates personal injury, fatality and property damage cases filed against railroads in state and federal courts.
