Defense Verdict Secured at Trial of Wrongful Death Medical Malpractice Case

In a wrongful death medical malpractice case, a St. Louis County jury returned a verdict for our clients, an emergency medicine physician and hospital nursing staff, after a five-day trial. At trial, Plaintiff claimed that the emergency medicine physician and hospital facility nursing staff wrongfully administered thrombolytic medication to treat an ischemic stroke, leading to the patient having a hemorrhagic stroke and, ultimately, his death.  Plaintiff alleged $173,000 in past medical bills and funeral expenses and asked for an award of $750,000.  In returning a verdict for our clients, no damages were awarded to Plaintiff.
