James Scott Kreamer, Managing Member of Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice, was elected President of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC) at the 2017 Annual Meeting at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace in Montreux, Switzerland.
The FDCC is a prestigious by invitation only organization of the top accomplished defense attorneys, corporate counsel, and insurance industry executives who have achieved professional distinction during their careers. With over 1400 members from the United States and around the world, the FDCC is dedicated to promoting the knowledge, fellowship, and professionalism of its members as they pursue the course of a balanced justice system and represent those in need of a defense in civil lawsuits.
On accepting the role of President, Kreamer stated "I am very honored and humbled to be elected President of such an outstanding collection of trial attorneys as well as corporate counsel and insurance industry members. It should be an exciting year, as we have developed some terrific programs and initiatives that will ensure that the Federation remains the preeminent defense organization."
Kreamer’s term as President runs for one year, after which he will serve a one year term as Chairman of the Board. As President, Kreamer will have full responsibility for the operation of the FDCC’s affairs, subject to the supervision and control of the Board of Directors. He will also engage with several sister organizations, including the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA), Defense Research Institute (DRI), Lawyers for Civil Justice (LCJ), and International Association of Claims Professionals (IACP), by representing the FDCC at select meetings and, in the case of the LCJ and DRI, serving as a member of the Board of Directors.
Kreamer has previously served the FDCC as President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer, Executive Committee Member, Program Chair, Website Director, and Dean of the Litigation Management College.
